a daily piece of mixed T-Shirts

Home / News / Tutorial for newbies

For those of you who have always wondered: ‘how the hell do they print a design on a t-shirt?!’ We take you out of wonderland and show you the initial steps to screenprinting!

STEP 1: PRINTING COLOR SEPARATIONS

We’ll take the fish design as an example:

1. In your vector software; coreldraw, illustrator etc… insert registration marks onto the design

2. Duplicate the design with the reg. marks 2 times if the design contains 2 colors, 3 times if the design contains 3 colors and so on…

3. All films are printed in 100% Black, thus in the first duplicate - select the parts that are not
black, and modify the color to white. Leave the black as it is.

4. In your second duplicate, select all the black color elements and modify it to white(do not ERASE it!). Select the beige color and modify it to black.

And That’s IT! Now you have your 2-color design separated!

Come back next week to see Step 2: The Dark Room
Til then, Gd Day!
